About Carl

Carl Del Buono is a proud graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan, and has been performing professionally in New York City, Rochester, and across the country for several years.

Life at AMDA-NY and NYC

At AMDA-NY, Carl was trained by such Broadway regulars as Evan Pappas, Elaine Petricoff, Ray Virta, and Regina O' Malley. After completion of the Integrated Program, he went on to co-write and perform new works of sketch comedy and song in BOYS OF SUMMER and CABARET II with New Face Theatre, which led to co-producing his own cabaret act A WORD OF ADVICE with Stupid Little Pig Productions.

Back in the ROC

On his return to the Rochester area, Carl immediately landed the lead role of Joe in Tennessee Williams' THE LONG GOODBYE, part of the Centennial Festival honoring the author. He continues to work in Rochester, appearing in such roles as George in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE with Blackfriars Theatre; Britt Craig/Young Soldier in PARADE with the JCC CenterStage; and Max in BENT with the Readers Theatre Series.

In the summer of 2012, Carl appeared in MY FAIR LADY at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse as a member of the Quartet before returning to Rochester to reprise his role as Prior in the long-awaited conclusion of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA: PERESTROIKA, with Method Machine at Geva Theatre Center's NextStage.

Weeks later, he performed as Hedwig/Tommy Gnosis in the cult classic HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH as a part of the Rochester Fringe Festival in front of a packed and enthusiastic house.

In October, Carl was honored to be a vocalist for the world premiere of MELANIE AND THE RECORD MAN, featuring legendary folk music icon, Melanie Safka. An original cast recording is now in production.

Rounding out 2012, Carl recreated the role of the beloved elephant Horton in SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL with Rochester Children's Theatre, and was a featured vocalist in AN EVENING OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER at Blackfriars Theatre.

2013 and Beyond

2013 finds Carl joining with other vocalists for ENCORE! BROADWAY FAVORITES OF THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK at JCC CenterStage Theatre in February. In April, he played Claudio in the Shakespeare Players of Rochester's production of MEASURE FOR MEASURE.
